Uncle Marty's Print Shop, run by CCY Endeavors LLC in Ithaca, New York, uses this site to take print orders. This explains what we do with your information. We keep it short because there isn't much: we collect what we need to print your order, and we delete your personal details soon after you pick it up.
What we collect
- Your contact details: your name, your email address, and a phone number if you choose to give one.
- Your order: the item and options you chose, the quantity, and the price.
- Your files: the artwork or documents you upload, and a picture showing how you lined up your artwork.
- Technical information: like any website, our servers receive your internet (IP) address and browser details. We use them for security and to stop abuse such as spam orders. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) form of your address, never a readable copy, for about a day. Our website host may also keep ordinary server logs.
- One cookie: when the "quick check" is shown, we save a small cookie for 30 minutes to remember that you passed it. It doesn't track you. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
What we don't collect: you don't create an account, and this site doesn't take payment, so we never see your card details.
How we use it
- To make your order and keep track of it.
- To email you: a confirmation when you order, and updates as your order moves along (in the print queue, printing, ready for pickup).
- To contact you about your order, for example if there is a problem with a file.
- To remind you, at intervals the shop sets, if your finished order hasn't been picked up, and to tell you if it is disposed of because it was never collected.
- To email our staff a short notice of each new online order so we see it quickly. It has the order number, the item and the price, but never your name or contact details.
- To keep the site secure and stop abuse.
- To keep simple records of finished jobs. These contain no personal details (see below).
We don't sell your information and we don't use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Your name, email, phone number and any notes on your order
- While your order is open. They are deleted by the end of the day after it is picked up or cancelled (in practice, the next time our staff open the order screen after midnight).
- Your files and your alignment picture
- Deleted at the same time as your contact details.
- An order that is ready but not picked up
- We email you reminders at intervals the shop sets, and each one says how long we hold orders and the exact date we will dispose of yours. If it still isn't picked up by then, we dispose of it, email you to say so, and cancel the order. Your details are then deleted by the end of the next day.
- What stays after that
- The order number, the dates, the price, and the item details (for example "100 flyers, 8.5 x 11"). No name, contact details or files. We keep this for the shop's records.
- Files you uploaded but never ordered with
- Deleted automatically within 2 days.
- Quotes our staff prepared for you
- Deleted after 2 weeks.
- Scrambled security counters
- Kept for about a day, then cleared out automatically.
- Emails we sent you
- They stay in your own inbox until you delete them.
- Backups
- Our database provider keeps short-term backups so we can recover from a failure. Something we've deleted can remain in those backups for a short time, never longer than 30 days, before it ages out.
Orders that are still being worked on stay open until our staff close them out.
Who handles your information for us
We use a few other companies to run this site. Each one handles your information only to do the job we hired it for.
- Neon
- Stores our order records in a database (United States, Ohio).
- Amazon Web Services
- Stores the files you upload while your order is open (United States, Ohio).
- Resend
- Sends the emails described above.
- Cloudflare
- Runs the "quick check" that tells people from automated programs. It sees your IP address and some browser information to do that.
- Vercel
- Runs the website itself and keeps ordinary server logs.
We share your information with no one else, unless the law requires it.
How we protect it
- The connection between your browser and this site is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Your files are private. Only our signed-in staff can open them.
- Our staff must sign in and enter a personal PIN to change an order, and what they do is written to an internal log that holds no customer details.
- We delete personal information quickly instead of keeping it.
No system is perfectly secure. If there is ever a problem that affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Your choices
You can ask us what we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it sooner (we will, unless we need it to finish an open order). You can also tell us if you would rather not get order update emails. You can reach us by email at Hello@unclemartysoffice.com, or by phone at (607) 275-3711, or by mail at 206A Dryden Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850.
Children
This site isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
